Travel with a Purpose…NFCR and YTB Travel Launch Discount Travel Service to Benefit Cancer Research

(Bethesda, Md., October 12, 2005) – The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) and YourTravelBiz International (YTB Travel) today announced that they have formed an Internet-based discount travel service, that gives a percentage of the booking fees to the cancer research efforts of the NFCR. The site, www.CauseTravel.com works like similar discount travel websites, allowing individuals to book their travel arrangements, golf tee times and event and ticket reservations online along with a number of other travel related services.

“In a world where most travelers today are planning their vacation destinations, event packages and business trips online, our new travel website gives booking these activities a real purpose,” said Franklin Salisbury, president of NFCR. “Best of all, 100% of donations raised through this partnership will fund our cutting-edge cancer research projects—in the laboratory where a cure will be found.”

How it works

Similar to most other travel websites, reservations are made through www.CauseTravel.com where users have a menu of choices to select their specific travel needs. Upon selection and payment, up to 8% of the total purchase will be donated to the NFCR to fund breakthrough cancer research. There is no additional charge to users of the site and in most cases the rates at CauseTravel.com are comparable or even lower than those found on such sites as Expedia®, Travelocity® or Orbitz® as they use similar travel search engines. Users can do routine purchase like airline, hotel and car reservations, vacation and cruise packages, event tickets, and even book a golf tee time – what better way to help in the fight against cancer.

“We are so grateful to be able to partner with NFCR and to share in this opportunity to benefit cancer research.....a dreadful disease that has touched everyone in some way,” stated Andy Cauthen, COO of YTB Travel International. “We truly believe that the funds generated by this opportunity will make a significant impact on cancer research and enable NFCR to find cures in our lifetime.”

Cancer is the number one cause of death in the United States surpassing heart disease earlier this year. For more than 30 years, NFCR has funded laboratories worldwide in the effort to provide improved prevention techniques, earlier diagnosis, new treatments and eventually cures for all types of cancer.
